Signs that your child might have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopment disorder that is complex in nature and can hamper the smooth functioning of different aspects of a child’s life. For a child suffering from ADHD, it is important that it is detected at the right time and they get the required mental health therapy as it will help them in coping with things like school and their emotions in a better way.

If you are a parent then you must be aware of the signs that indicate to a child suffering from ADHD. Here are the symptoms that you should pay attention to, as they can help you in identifying if your child needs to go to a professional.

Self-focused

It is difficult for these children to acknowledge that other people have needs and desires too; they often show self-focused behavior.

Inability to wait for their turn

Children who have ADHD cause trouble when they find themselves in a situation where they have to wait to get their turn. For example, if you take them to a public park, they will find it troublesome to wait for their turn on the rides.

Problem in sitting still

If they find themselves in a situation where they have to sit still, you will notice that they keep trying to get up and move. It is difficult for them to sit in one place and concentrate.

Interrupting conversation

As mentioned above because of their self-focused behavior, you will find them interrupting a conversation when somebody else is talking, or in a conversation that doesn’t concern them.

Inability to finish a task

If you notice that your child takes many different tasks, but fails to complete them and tends to leave a task in between and moves on to the other one, it is a big sign of ADHD.

Problem in focusing

It is tough for a child suffering from ADHD to concentrate on one thing there is a lot going on in their mind at the same time. for example, even when you are addressing them directly, they might not be able to recollect what you just said because they were not focusing.

These are some tell signs of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and if you feel that your child is displaying them, then the best thing for their sake is to take some therapist as the first step.
