One of the best athletes to ever play the game of tennis is set to come up with big records off the court. He is on the pace to pass the $100 million mark in annual earnings for the first time in his career and will earn a billion dollars through his sponsors and prize money.
Roger Federer has been nothing short of the word ‘best’ when it comes to tennis. No doubt, he will be remembered as one of the game’s best when he opts to hang his racket and retire. Until he plays, he can earn a lot of money as much as he wants.
According to Forbes’ most recent mid-year figures, the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s annual earnings have rocketed to a career-high of $93.4 million. That alone is a big jump from his previous earning estimate of $77.2 million back in 2018.
The increase in his earnings mostly came from his sponsorship signing with Uniqlo last 2018, and that sponsorship is believed to be paying him for around $30 million per year. That deal with Uniqlo is around $15-20 million more than his contract with Nike, which sponsors both his clothing and shoes.

Federer’s increased earnings mark the first time that a tennis player has become an official billionaire by playing the said sport. Former tennis player Ion Tiriac came close to that same status in his post-tennis life by making big investments in banking and other profits.
‘I’ve never done crazy, silly investments’, Federer said in an interview with CNBC. ‘I remember once back in 2004 when I came here to the US Open, people were saying I don’t have enough partners. I think it’s great I kept a bit of a white canvas, then I was able to partner with the best brands in the world’.
Federer did some great work last season. He upped his tennis schedule and has played in a lot of matches in 2019 despite the risk of having too many games in his workload. He has done that while making sure he does not miss any quality time with his beloved family. He is a father of four – twin sons and twin daughters.
The Swiss has racked up more Grand Slam titles than any other player in the history of the sport. He has certainly earned respect in Wimbledon, which is considered his best Grand Slam. 20 Grand Slams isn’t a simple feat, and he is the first one to do so.
He has won Wimbledon more than any other player, and that definitely says a lot about his dominance in the sport. Other players trail closely behind, Nadal has 17 Grand Slams, while Djokovic has 15. Both are in the pace to come and break the record, but Federer definitely cemented his name as the first.
2006 has been the best season for Federer. He won 12 singles titles, which is the most since 1995. He won three Grand Slam singles titles and lost to Nadal in the final of the French Open. He was the first player to reach all four finals in a calendar year since 1969. He won over Nadal in the Wimbledon Championships to top off an incredible season.
Federer has been fun to watch. He has been simply the best in his prime. His artistry in matches makes him a wonder to watch. His synchronized movements on the tennis court are very efficient and were very sensational in every victory that Federer had.
